About this place
At Sumibi Yakiniku Rishoen, try yaki-suki: thinly sliced Japanese Black wagyu sirloin, briefly grilled and dipped in raw egg. The menu serving comes with 2 raw egg, and diners describe the combination of sweet-leaning sauce, rich beef fat and egg as a perfect match for rice. Lay the meat over rice for a bowl-like meal, or savour the beef and egg together first.
For a wider taste of the menu, try premium salted beef tongue, premium skirt steak and selected premium lean beef. One diner enjoyed the tongue with lemon salt, the lean beef with wasabi, and the skirt steak with house dipping sauce. Another recalled being advised to cook the lean beef rare, so there is room to find your preferred combination of seasoning and doneness. The skirt steak can be ordered with sauce or salt, offering a different direction from the sweeter sauce used for yaki-suki.
Cold noodles are another option to finish a barbecue meal. One diner remembered the noodles’ firm chew and the well-seasoned broth as a pleasing balance, making this a more full-flavoured finish than a particularly light one. For a meal to share, the Rishoen Set serves 2–3 people and includes premium salted beef tongue, premium skirt steak, selected loin and short rib, the day’s recommendation, and grilled vegetables; some items may vary by day. The restaurant in Nakakagaya, Suminoe-ku, Osaka, opens for lunch and dinner, and reservations are available for dinner.
